This is a horror light game where the player is running away from a cursed scarecrow and must plant crops in order to escape and continue to the next level. My team and I were all mainly game designers and we spent 4 months on this project. On this project, I was the lead level and UI designer making sure that players had an easy time understanding the game in both level creation and UI.

What went right?

For the duration of this project, I was in charge of creating the main level in this game. I made sure that each level was planned out and met requirements before I started to build in the engine. Doing this helped me understand how to properly document level as I was creating them.

What went wrong?

About half way through this project our team lost a member who was working on mechanics that would have made our game more of an actual horror game. Because of this we had to shift away from horror and more into more of a horror light game. This impacted the way I created levels as some of the original designs were made for a game where if the player was ever seen by the enemy the game was over.

Level 1 (Tutorial)

This level was designed to introduce the player to the games main farming mechanic. I also made sure that the game would almost force the player to stop and read the tutorials after some playtesting.

Level 2

This level will introduce the player the main enemy of the game. The player will have to use the mechanics they learned in level 1 while also avoiding the enemy scare crow.

Level 3

This level is meant to build upon the games main mechanics by adding in a new mechanic that uses the farming mechanic and can be used to escape the scarecrow.

Level 4 (Boss Level)

This level is the boss level. This is where the player would defeat the enemy scarecrow to defeat the game.
