Escape Through The City (Personal Project)

This project is a test to see if I could build a level that had three different paths with one main objective and at least 3 optional objectives. I did this to see if I could hone my skills as a level designer and give the player a choice on how they wanted to complete a level.

Level Layout

During the designing process, I mapped out and detailed the level layout. Doing this gave me a clear understanding of how the level will flow as well as how create the level in the unreal editor when the time came.

Modular Assets

This project also helped me to truly understand the importance of modular assets. On past projects, I would make a map by hand and hand place every little detail which would take way too long. For this project, I made several different assets that made designing and making my level both easy and take less time.

Unreal Lighting

Lastly, I also wanted to start and understand how lighting worked in UE5. This project helped me understand how to properly use directional lighting to capture the feel of a sun set as well as understand when to use other types of lighting such as spotlights and point lights.
